Brisbane Home Style accommodation for students "a home away from home" in excellent private fully furnished rooms in spacious homes at Kelvin Grove, Red Hill & Herston, less than 3 kms from the city,  approximately 10 minutes walk to University of Qld Herston campus or QUT Kelvin Grove campus (free shuttle service to QUT Gardens Point campus).

Historic “Camona” was built in Kelvin Grove in 1892 by James Campbell, a famous timber, brick and pottery merchant and building supplier.

“Camona” (pictured) is described in “More Historic Homes of Brisbane” by the National Trust of Queensland, as having an “elaborate gable, with deep timber valance, providing a grand introduction to the house.  The front door is beautifully offset with eye-catching alternate boards of light Queensland maple & darker Black Bean in the hallway.” (pictured) The three marble fireplaces are glorious & still in use, creating a marvellous old world ambience.

It is one of the very few remaining historic Brisbane homes of its era that has not been “modernised” but restored graciously with all modern comforts including 6 computers on cable internet, 3 televisions with DVD players, air-conditioning/heating, hardwired smoke alarm system, 3 bathrooms, 13 metre salt water swimming pool & full sized tennis court.(pictured) It is situated amongst Heritage listed trees on 2700 square metres of magnificent hilltop land with views all over Brisbane.

One of 2 Red Hill sharehouses is a modern architect designed home built in 1985 with stunning views.  The “penthouse” bedroom & even the ensuite have the most amazing views!

It is a quiet study house with all rooms having private verandas or patios but when you are in partying mood, the clubs, pubs & coffee shops of trendy Red Hill & Paddington are walking distance. City and Valley night spots are also close by.

The house has a hardwired smoke alarm system with Fireplan, security screens and insect screens on all door and windows.

There will always be an interesting mix of nationalities to give everyone the chance to meet people from other countries & regularly BBQ’s are held by the housemates...."THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE" has been a regular comment! 

 “Big Sister” who owns and manages the properties in RED HILL, KELVIN GROVE & HERSTON  will explain the use of facilities & house rules. To get you familiar with Australian products, she will take you shopping for groceries, personal needs, phonecards, bus tickets etc & be able to offer assistance with travel plans, your resume, jobs & adventure weekends...son is a mountaineering & abseiling instructor & pilot!

She was a caterer & deli owner so Homestay meals are culinary delights.

Housemates have a well equipped gourmet kitchen & are given expert assistance as to where to shop within their student budget & be treated as a VIP customer by the local butcher, the best fruit, vegetable, Asian outlets, Halal meat & Kelvin Grove Urban Village Farmers markets, local hairdresser, pharmacy & doctors surgery.

Assistance is available for any settling in, cultural problems or challenges. The family has had international Homestay students for over 25 years & warmly welcome students as a family member, are culturally sensitive and supportive.  They hold current Suitability Cards issued by the Commission for Children & Young People Act which involved a criminal history screening & clearance.

There are 4 family members (plus a cat) & a recent Homestay student commented “Every night is party night” as he sat down to another large family dinner at the gracious dining table that seats 18! The kitchen table seats 10!

With two students in the household, there is consideration & space for serious quiet study in this 2700 square metre property often called a “resort”.
